Leading Cities and QBE are looking for resilient city solutions

For the third time, the QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge of QBE North America collaborates with the non-profit organization Leading Cities. Start-ups have the opportunity to apply for the accelerator program. Since the smart city startup accelerator program launch, more than 1,500 smart city solutions from over 50 countries have been evaluated.

Semi-finalists of the QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge take part in the eight-week virtual accelerator program. For the finalists, the program culminates in a virtual boot camp and a pitch day. The winner will receive USD 100,000 and a pilot project in a city. The start-ups that rank second and third will receive $ 25,000 and additional resources and access to valuable connections to help scale their initiatives. The application deadline is April 30, 2021.

The QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge 2021 is a global competition aiming to find start-ups that use technological innovations to create more resilient cities. This requires solutions that address risks, sustainability, and equity. Todd Jones, CEO of QBE North America and President of the QBE Foundation said: "As an organization, we are uniquely positioned to help people and businesses build resiliency against emerging risks. It's evident that our cities are in critical need of more resilient solutions to react in difficult times. "He adds: "The QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge exemplifies our dedication to create meaningful change and provide needed resources to help people and communities successfully achieve their ambitions."

By rationalizing innovation and sales cycles, resilient and intelligent city solutions, the risk and costs of innovations for start-ups, companies, and cities are reduced by the program. Previous winners included Bioo and DrugViu. Bioo uses innovative technology solutions to combat climate change. DrugViu is committed to more significant health equity for minorities.
